B L O O M

Wahhhhhhh, I am so super excited to be writing this post, as I have the incredibly stunning set of images from the bloom shoot to share.

The idea for the shoot started from the Bloom Floral Separates and well lets just say it naturally grew from there (sorry cant resist a bad pun). The concept was for all things botanical and nature inspired so flora, fauna, butterflies and more were all thrown in the mix. With Di from Myrtle and Bracken creating an incredible living wall and natural and wild bouquets and Janet from Rene Walrus going wild with real butterflies combined with her incredible accessories (that ear cuff, if only I didnt wear glasses!)Then of course the amazing Caro Weiss photographing what we had created, it truly was a wonderful shoot to be part of.

I love working on collaborative shoots with my incredibly creative and talented friends and the bloom shoot was definitely one where the stars aligned (even with our original model cancelling last minute!)I adore the ladies I worked with on this shoot and am very proud of what we have created. I also just realised they were also all my wonderful suppliers and a part of my wedding, seriously book them folks you will not regret it.

Rowanjoy 2015 Real Brides - Bespoke Ivory dresses

I have come to the final post of my round up of my gorgeous 2015 brides and these are my bespoke ivory creations.

First up is actually not a dress at all and was a delicate beaded top I made for Morven to go with the sequin skirt her friend was making her. The top was made in a georgette with a sequin lace trim on the hem and sleeves and lines of beads running vertically up the top. It was quite different for me to do so much beading and I love the finished top and think Morven looks super in it.

Kirstin was my penultimate bride of 2015, she got married just before Christmas and had a bit of a secret wedding (love) only telling guests a couple of weeks before the day. The silhouette for Kirstin's dress was kept quite simple with a fitted bodice and slightly flared skirt. The main feature on the dress was the amazing lace that Kirstin chose  - a repeated linear beaded scallop design - with the lines of the lace used going in different directions to create a really gorgeous design. I think Kirstin looks so beautiful and might be one of the smiliest brides I have seen

Kelly was one of my summer brides from last year and Kelly's dress has a secret - its not a dress at all, its a skirt and top.

When Kelly first told me she wanted to have something that had a long skirt during the day but a shorter skirt for the evening but also didnt look like separates, I was very excited by the challenge and am so pleased with the result. The top was a fitted bodice with low back and lace details on the neckline at the front which turned into wide straps at the back. I designed 2 skirts for Kelly, both had the same waistband and the same combination of fabric - silk satin with a georgette layer over the top. The top was made from the same combination of fabrics and both the tops and skirts were finished with button fastenings at the back to help complete the look that they were one piece rather than 2. I think Kelly looks absolutely beautiful and from what she tells me no-one had realised that it was a skirt and top rather than a dress until she changed in the evening. Job done.

Charlotte was one of the brides I actually managed to blog about last year in full so read the story of her dress here and enjoy a couple of images here.

Julia's was one of the weddings I was lucky enough to attend myself last year and what a gorgeous day it was. There's nothing better and more nerve wracking than watching one of your friends get married in a dress you have made them.
Her dress design  was all about the open back detail and the gorgeous delicate beaded lace used on the bodice combined with a soft silk crepe. The design itself came from some images of Downton Abbey costumes that Julia loved and I think she looks like she would fit perfectly in with the Crawley clan although with a bit less drama.

There is still one final bride from 2015 to come and the dress is a bit of a stunner so i cant wait to share when I get the photos.

But for now its time to get cracking on my 2016 brides and, well lets just say 2016 is definitely giving 2015 a run for its money.

Rowanjoy Real Brides 2015 - Brides in dresses from the collection, part 2.

It's part 2 of brides in dresses from the made to measure collection and my word arent't all of them absolute babes.

Starting off with Claire looking oh so amazing in the Crawford dress. Claire was looking for something that wasn't a traditional looking wedding dress and initially was drawn to a strapless gold and peach brocade dress but after trying on the Crawford dress it was unanimous that it had the right mix of modern yet bridal. The dress was kept exactly as it was which meant Claire could have fun with accessories to go with the dress, she commissioned the most brilliant painted leather jacket and absolutely stunning headpiece from Rene Walrus. It is so wonderful to see how differently people interpret and style their dresses and I love Claire's more fashion led look.

Lisa was another one of those brides who after spotting the dress at a wedding fair came in to the studio to try it on and knew immediately it was the one. Lisa chose the Chloe dress and loved it exactly as it was so we kept it just as the original. Lisa also commissioned a veil from me to match her dress, the veil was edged with the same lace trim that is on the waist of the dress and just compliments it perfectly. She finished off the dress and the veil with the most beautiful star halo from my super studio made Rene Walrus, doesnt she just look beautiful.

Lindsey was my first bride of 2015 and well, what a way to start.

Lindsey got in touch after spotting (coincidentally) another Lindsay in her version of the Ava dress on a blog and after coming in to try on the sample and chatting about what changes could be made to the original she decided this was the one. The main shape of the dress was kept as the original with the back being raised up and more lace coming across the back to create a keyhole. The base lace was changed to a beautiful delicate beaded lace which gave the dress even more of twinkle. The lace appliques which are hand sewn on the dress were used both as detail on the main dress but also to create an organic, asymmetric edge around the keyhole and on the shoulders to create a cap sleeve. Finally sea green and opal beads were added in for a bit more sparkle and to tie in with the colours for the wedding. I love how Lindsey's dress still looks like the Ava dress but is so unique to her and my word doesnt she just look stunning.
You can read more about Lindsey's gorgeous day here.
