Rowanjoy Bride - Claire

What can I say about Claire, her wedding and her dress - all are pretty darn awesome!

I first met Claire through the Glasgow Wedding Collective who along with her sister Nikki run the wedding and event planning business Be Eventful. When I found out she was engaged I knew she had to be a Rowanjoy bride and lucky for me I got my girl!

Claire and I had much fun pinning to a secret board on pinterest with ideas for her dress and soon enough a common theme was obvious - Peter Pan collars, keyhole cut-outs and a relaxed seventies vibe to the style. I found the most fabulous crochet lace which we decided the whole dress should be made from and combined with Claire's styling for her big day (leather belt, amazing floral crown and lace up ankle boots - Yess) The perfect, relaxed bridal look was created.

Claire and John's wedding looks like such a fun day, seriously look at the full day here, flipping fabulous and brilliantly captured by Caro Weiss who I am lucky enough to have photographing my own wedding ( eek nearly only 4 months left)

Good times indeed.

Rowanjoy Bride - Fi

Fi and David's wedding was one I had the great pleasure of attending myself and what a wonderful day it was. What rain?

Fi is a friend and fellow designer and has her own label Fiona Heather so I knew she would have lots of ideas of what she was looking for. The design was a mixture of elements of some of my designs with a few details that Fi specifically wanted. A gorgeous flowing skirt with a gathered back detail, delicate chantilly lace highlighted with some beaded lace motifs and that lovely low back all combined perfectly to make THE dress.

It was so lovely to see Fi looking so fricking fabulous on the day and I was very flattered to even get a mention in the father of the bride's speech ( I went suitably beetroot )

Happy wedding times indeed.

Rowanjoy Real Bride - Beth

Beth is a friend from my time at art college (more years ago now than I care to believe) so it was an honour and pleasure when she asked me to make her wedding dress.

Beth was a two dress bride - Good times

The first was her Gran's wedding dress which was a beautiful lace dress from the forties. Through time and various wears the dress had been damaged a little but was in pretty good condition for a dress almost 70 years old. Beth asked me if I would repair the tears in the lace, add some new buttons and take out some of the fullness in the sleeve. Pretty nerve wracking stuff when you are faced with a family heirloom.

Her second dress took me back to my re-working roots when she asked me to create the dress from a beautiful Kimono that she already had which was a gorgeous green colour with a cherry blossom pattern woven in. Luckily Beth was looking for a column style dress with some art deco pleating details which the dress pattern just fitted onto the Kimono fabric, phew. The dress was finished off with a row of covered buttons down the back. Gorgeous.

Eats, Shoots and Sleeves

Yuk, what a bummer of a day it is.

Wedding season madness has well and truly set in, its been a busy couple of months but the dresses are now starting to leave the studio to head to their wedding destiny. 2 brides wearing Rowanjoy got married last weekend and after seeing some blurry photos on facebook I am very excited to see some more.

In amongst all the new dresses I have been lending out some of my sample dresses for a variety of photo shoots. Its always lovely to see how different stylists and photographers interpret and style the dresses. The first I have had back are from a gorgeous, romantic shoot, shot at Carberry Tower just outside Edinburgh featuring the Ava, Ella, Chloe and Lucille dresses.

Love this last shot

I was also in Shoot mode myself this weekend taking part in a gorgeous styled shoot featuring some fabulous fellow members of the Glasgow wedding Collective at the fabulous timberyard. From having seen some sneak peeks from the photographer I think they are going to be blooming marvelous. Here are some of my instagram pics from the day.

Love a shoot with a redhead, especially one with flowers in her hair.

Hopefully I will have lots more pretty to bring you over the next few weeks with more shoot photos and some of my real brides.

P.S Sorry there weren't really any sleeves or eating.

Rowanjoy Real (Texan) Bride - Brittney

Brittney first got in touch with me through my Etsy shop in November 2011 to enquire about the Ella dress. The thing was when she first messaged me she wasnt actually engaged, her boy had the ring and they had an idea of the date for the wedding but the all important question had not yet been asked. Then at the end of December I got an email saying he had asked, she had said yes and we were good to get going, hurrahs all round.

So from there the sample dress got made, sent and tried on, all was good so it was straight on to the real thing. The dress got sent over to America and arrived safe and sound. This was the email I got on its arrival My dress arrived about 20 minutes ago!! It is safe and sound and now I'm just waiting to get it home to try on. I may have to leave work early. :) Hurrahs again.

It was great fun getting know and working with Brittney over email and I think it proves if you do see a dress you love from an overseas maker it is possible to get it made for you. How fabulous does Brittney's wedding look? so full of love, fun and smiles and I am very happy to have contributed to her day.

Friday I'm in love...Paolo Roversi

Happy Friday, mine has been slightly unproductive due to some accidental wine drinking last night but hey I worked Sunday so I feel a lazy Friday afternoon is justified.

Its been a while since I did a Friday in love post so in my post wine haze I thought I would do one about another photographer whose work I love - Paolo Roversi. His work is a great influence on many of the photoshoots I have collaborated with Paul on for my collections. I love the painterly quality of his images, they truly are beautiful and create a really dreamlike feeling. I had a couple of photos from his vogue shoots on the moodboard from my A/W 13 Darkness falls collection and think we managed to capture some of those qualities within our shoot. Hope you enjoy these images as much as I do.

Glasgow Wedding Collective Fayre 2013

Come and say hello to me and lots of other gorgeous wedding suppliers at the next Glasgow Wedding Collective fayre on the 17th February. It has moved to a bigger, brighter and more central location - the Lighthouse - on Mitchell Lane, meaning more stalls and space for you lovely lovebirds to peruse all the pretty on offer. I will be showing my 3 new dress styles Ava, Cecelia and Grace as well as some old favourites.

It is still free to come to and even better for the first folks through the door there will be a sparkly glass of fizz on offer. So whether you are newly engaged and just starting with thoughts of weddings, planning ahead or need those last few details there is something for everyone.
