Rowanjoy Real (Texan) Bride - Brittney

Brittney first got in touch with me through my Etsy shop in November 2011 to enquire about the Ella dress. The thing was when she first messaged me she wasnt actually engaged, her boy had the ring and they had an idea of the date for the wedding but the all important question had not yet been asked. Then at the end of December I got an email saying he had asked, she had said yes and we were good to get going, hurrahs all round.

So from there the sample dress got made, sent and tried on, all was good so it was straight on to the real thing. The dress got sent over to America and arrived safe and sound. This was the email I got on its arrival My dress arrived about 20 minutes ago!! It is safe and sound and now I'm just waiting to get it home to try on. I may have to leave work early. :) Hurrahs again.

It was great fun getting know and working with Brittney over email and I think it proves if you do see a dress you love from an overseas maker it is possible to get it made for you. How fabulous does Brittney's wedding look? so full of love, fun and smiles and I am very happy to have contributed to her day.

Friday I'm in love...Paolo Roversi

Happy Friday, mine has been slightly unproductive due to some accidental wine drinking last night but hey I worked Sunday so I feel a lazy Friday afternoon is justified.

Its been a while since I did a Friday in love post so in my post wine haze I thought I would do one about another photographer whose work I love - Paolo Roversi. His work is a great influence on many of the photoshoots I have collaborated with Paul on for my collections. I love the painterly quality of his images, they truly are beautiful and create a really dreamlike feeling. I had a couple of photos from his vogue shoots on the moodboard from my A/W 13 Darkness falls collection and think we managed to capture some of those qualities within our shoot. Hope you enjoy these images as much as I do.

Glasgow Wedding Collective Fayre 2013

Come and say hello to me and lots of other gorgeous wedding suppliers at the next Glasgow Wedding Collective fayre on the 17th February. It has moved to a bigger, brighter and more central location - the Lighthouse - on Mitchell Lane, meaning more stalls and space for you lovely lovebirds to peruse all the pretty on offer. I will be showing my 3 new dress styles Ava, Cecelia and Grace as well as some old favourites.

It is still free to come to and even better for the first folks through the door there will be a sparkly glass of fizz on offer. So whether you are newly engaged and just starting with thoughts of weddings, planning ahead or need those last few details there is something for everyone.

Up, up and Away

Happy New Year!

Yes it may be a few days into the new year now and I am only just getting round to doing this blog. From how fast the first week has gone, I think this is going to be one quick year.

2013 is looking like an exciting year at Rowanjoy with lots of plans in the pipeline. In 2012 the Bridal label really took off and in 2013 I am hoping to build on this even more. I have lots of lovely brides booked in for this year already and looking forward to meeting more throughout the year. I am lucky to be making dresses for several friends this year as well as the task of making my own dress (I'm sure there will be many a twitter rant regarding that number come september!)

For those of you not needing a wedding dress the main Rowanjoy label will have new pieces in my stockists for the new season including new versions of the popular Peter Pan dress.

I am as always looking forward to working on some new photoshoots and working with the most fabulously creative people I know to create gorgeous images for you to ogle.

Apart from that my year (well until October) is going to be filled with wedding planning and panicking and quite frankly I can't wait!

Hope your 2013's are going to be filled with fabulous times too.

Behind the scenes at the shoot A/W 2013

So I am currently waiting, very much with baited breath, to see the results of my photoshoot from last Sunday. While I am waiting I thought I would share some of my (not so good) photos from the location and on the day of the shoot. I was incredibly lucky to get such a stunning venue, which did require slightly military precision planning to get to and get the shoot done in time but thankfully everything did go to plan. The house itself can be hired out for events and I would say if you are looking for somewhere spectacular this really is the place.

Potential shoot location.

Couldn't resist a pic of this smiling chap

The usual suspects were gathered together for the shoot - Paul taking the photos, Roy creating beautiful hair, Fiona doing fab things with make up and Nicola bringing along some strumpet hats and general fabness. We had a wonderful model Olivia from colours agency and I had managed to borrow some amazing accessories from Pam Jenkins and Rene Walrus.

I cannot wait to see what all this adds up to down the camera lense but from what I saw in the back of the camera I am really excited. I am very lucky that Paul has already sent me one official image from the shoot so incase you missed it on facebook, here it is again. Fingers crossed there will be more soon to show you.
