Rowanjoy real bride - Debi

Debi came in to see me during the summer to chat about getting a dress made for her wedding. The main requirement, flattering her baby bump. She wasn't looking for a traditional wedding dresses so we looked through my made to measure dresses but none of them were quite what she was looking for. After spotting the Ella dress and having a chat about how it could be adapted, we knew we had the one. The dress was made in a beautiful pale pink and gold silk satin and used the lace from the original Ella. I made it knee length and lifted the waistband to make the dress empire line so the skirt just draped over her bump. To complete the look Debi got a lovely headpiece and birdcage veil made by Rene Walrus from a piece of the lace. Doesnt she look beautiful.

Here is a little bit of sunshine on an absolute misery of a day. I recently lent out some dresses to the Milliner Maggie Mowbray for her spring/Summer 13 Collection shoot and have just got the images back to show you. Arent they gorgeous? I think the dresses and hats go so well together and I love all the abundance of flowers in the room.

Rowanjoy Real Bride - Kirsty

I admit it, I have been terrible at blogging over the last few months but wedding season well and truly took me over. The joy about having done so many wedding dresses and worked with so many lovely brides this year means I have lots of gorgeous photos to share with you. 

Which brings me to Kirsty and her very special version of the Ella dress. Kirsty loved the shape of the bodice of the dress but wanted to have it more fitted over her hips so I added in a gathered lace panel which gave the dress much more of a twenties look (which matches kirsty's gorgeous hairpiece perfectly)Kirsty also like the idea of a more open back so we took out the panel at the back and used a vintage necklace to hold the shoulders up. And, well, doesnt she look amazing.

Diamonds in the sky.

Well its a while since I last posted but I think I am coming back with a photoshoot bang. These quite frankly gorgeous images are from a shoot that was organised by the wonderful Janet from Rene walrus for a new bridal collection of accessories she had made. Shopping list - diamante sunglasses (who cares that I wont be able to see), diamante ball tiara, all of it. How could I resist getting involved when all of that sparkle plus coloured smoke bombs, cherry blossoms, frothy underskirts and a whole host of other prettiness was to make up the shoot. And, well the results speak for themselves, the shoot itself makes me think of the virgin suicides but if they had been slightly less suicudal and had taken a large amount of mind altering substances.

The red shoes

A little quick post for this sunny thursday. I recently lent out one of my bridal dresses - Betty, the 50's style - for a photoshoot. The photographer was Solen and was for her final fashion project for her course at Stevenson College which was based on the film The Red Shoes. I love that film so it was an easy decision about lending the dress to see what Solen came up with. This is one of the images from the shoot and I think it is absolutely beautiful.

Sweet films Love Super8 Love Sugar8

Not long ago I blogged about the mega wedding shoot that I was involved in with the fabulous team of fellow Glasgow wedding Collective folks. You may remember the gorgeous images from the shoot which showed off the prettiness of all the work we put in.


 Well not only was Caroline from CandySnaps on fabulous photography duty we also had Eileen from Sugar8 films filming away too. Eileen is a fellow graduate and friend from my time doing fashion at ECA who since graduating went and got herself a post graduate in film and media. And boy am I glad she because now she does beautiful things like this.

Jealous of Roses - Rowanjoy S/S 2012 (and other news)

Well this has been a rather busy and exciting week here at Rowanjoy HQ. First of all there was the excitement of having my work featured on 2 fabulous blogs on consecutive days. Firstly appearing on Style Me Pretty with some dresses from last season in a Party inspiration shoot. Then appearing on Love My Dress with the wedding shoot involving a fabulous creative team from the Glasgow Wedding Collective. And now to top it all I have just had my images through from Paul of the shoot for my Spring/Summer collection. They are more of a look book style than the usual shoots this was to show off all the fabulous colours and prints that were being used in the collection.

The outfits were complemented by some fun hats from the Strumpet Ladies. The hair was done by the most wonderful hairstylist Roy Rogers who is in the process of opening his own salon Milk. The gorgeous make up was done by the fabulous Fiona Henderson who is once again off on her travels but should hopefully be back come the next shoot. Our wonderful model was Ashleigh from colours agency who you may recognise from the last shoot, we loved her that much we asked her back and doesnt she look stunning again. And last but most definitely not least the photos are once again done by the fabulous Paul Marr. I hope they bring even more sunshine into your life on this most gorgeous of days.
